Self-Storage Facility Infectious Tree Disease Management Plan
FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS) provided arboriculture services for a Self-Storage Facility Project located in Long Beach, California. FCS was tasked with the development of an Infectious Tree Disease Management Plan to identify and manage trees within the project site. The project team from FCS was led by Principal Biologist Michael W. Tuma, PhD, with significant contributions from Kelly Evans, an ISA Certified Arborist. The assessment included a detailed survey of tree species, tag/number evaluated trees, locations, and health conditions, focusing on identifying signs of infectious diseases.
The survey identified all trees within or adjacent to the offsite improvement area scheduled for removal, ensuring that any infectious tree diseases were properly addressed to prevent their spread during removal activities. The management plan provided recommendations to mitigate the spread of these diseases, including proper disposal of infected tree parts, chemical treatments, and biological control measures. This project highlights FCS's expertise in arboriculture services and environmental management, ensuring the successful integration of development with the preservation of urban forestry.
